Machine Learning

After watching a video with Brian Lantz giving an hour-long presentation on the technology available to manufacturers, I decided to do research on him. I found that “Prof. Lantz is the cognizant scientist for the Advanced LIGO seismic isolation and alignment system, and he leads the research at the Engineering Test Facility for LIGO at Stanford.” So, what does that mean? In other words, Brian Lantz is best known as a data scientist, author, and educator in the field of machine learning.

He’s particularly recognized for his book Machine Learning with R, (R programing language) which is widely used by beginners to learn practical machine learning techniques. The book focuses on real-world, hands-on applications.

Lantz has also worked in industry as a data scientist, applying analytics to business problems, and has been involved in teaching and developing learning resources for people entering the field.

The way I see it, many of our current occupations are going to become obsolete in the next decade or so. It sounds like the field of machine learning is one of the career paths that sounds promising.
